Love is meant for two: Laura and Lewis’ music wedding

Fans of ’80s synth-pop would find a lot to like about Laura and Lewis’ first meeting.

“I was working as a waitress in a cocktail bar, true story,” Laura says with a laugh.

While Lewis didn’t exactly charm his future bride straight away, the pair soon bonded over a shared love of music.

“We are big music lovers, with eclectic tastes and this was one of the things that made us click when we first met,” Laura says.

When it came time to walk down the aisle, the couple wanted to incorporate this passion as much as possible.

“We wanted to ensure our wedding had a party vibe and was fun for everyone,” Laura says of their music wedding, choosing Asia House in central London for their ceremony and opting for a unique reception venue.

“Having a live music venue for our reception venue felt perfect for us! We loved everything about Bush Hall - the old ceilings, the chandeliers, the pictures of all the artists that had played there – it’s full of character,” she says of the Shepherd’s Bush venue.

Guest place settings were shaped as microphones and guitars, plectrums were scattered on the tables like flower petals and punk-style posters listed the wedding as if it was a gig or band tour.

“We did lots of DIY as I think it really is the best way to personalise your day and it was loads of fun,” Laura says.

The couple were together for five years when Lewis popped the questioned while the couple was in Cologne, Germany on New Year's Eve. "He proposed just after midnight. Totally cheesy and not when he had planned to do it but apparently I kept blowing his attempts to do it sooner in the trip. However, it was obviously wonderful!" Laura says.

Laura was every inch a modern bride in her Charlie Brear gown.

From an impromptu photo shoot in a nearby launderette, to candid shots that caught the special moments, the couple is full of praise for photographer Jordanna, of Jordanna Marston Photography. "We love our photos and will cherish them forever," Laura says.

Laura and her sister got creative to make the flower arrangements themselves, finding their favourite blooms at Covent Garden Flowers.
