The romance between Louise Fox and Steve Baird-Smith started in a location most can relate to.
“Like all great love stories, it started in a pub,” laughs 28-year-old Louise. After eight years together, Steve, 32, proposed on a deserted beach in Crete. “I looked quite scared, said yes, then cried a bit and thought I was going to be sick … a fairytale moment,” jokes the bride.
Their Selwyn College wedding in Cambridge was held before 130 guests on October 10, 2015. “We were lucky enough to get married in a Cambridge college as my dad is a fellow there,” explains Louise. “This meant we had a fabulous venue for both the ceremony and reception, and guests didn’t need to travel between the two.”
As well as being able to invite their loved ones to a venue most would have never been to before, Louise said they were able to organise most elements through the college. The bride’s advice for other newlyweds-to-be is to make sure you don’t miss out on the wonderful things you arrange. “Due to chatting and dancing too much I totally missed the cheese tower being brought out, and managed not to even see the magician or canapes!” she says.

Groom Steve was dressed smartly by Next.
“It was great seeing photos of everyone chatting during the dinner — especially seeing those people we hoped would get along even though they’d never met before,” says Louise.
