Why have a wedding when you can have a festival instead?
That was the thinking behind the festival wedding of Jenny and Callum who married on July 7, 2018 with 175 guests in Colchester.
“I hadn’t really thought much about a wedding day, the idea of a formal event made me feel very nervous so when we started googling ‘fun weddings’ we found the festival theme and came across Chalkney Water Meadows in Colchester,” explains the bride, 31, of her wedding to her 29-year-old beau. “As soon as we arrived and walked around the lake we got a really good feeling and we could imagine all our friends and family there celebrating!”
The venue boasted everything the couple desired, including guests being able to say on site. “The venue was perfect for us as guests can glamp in the tipis on site and it is all in one area,” says the bride. “There is a beautiful lake house where I stayed with some of the bridesmaids the night before and it is a short walk to the ceremony. We felt it had everything – and they allowed dogs!”

Jenny purchased her incredible block heels from Monsoon.
“We decorated the main tent and made a kids area called ‘Kidchella’ which had books, games, a small tipi, bubbles, hula hoops and colouring things for the little ones,” recalls the bride.
“We had such lovely messages from everybody and I really can’t describe the amount of love we felt from everyone that day,” says Jenny.
The bride sourced her elegant gown from Enzoani UK.
“We decorated the tables with candles I made myself and wooden tree trunk table centres that were made by a family friend. My mum collected wine bottles and jars and decorated them too,” smiles Jenny.
