Holidaying with friends unexpectedly led to love for Elane Parkinson when she met Scott Knibbs in gorgeous Greece.
“We met on a holiday in Zante in 2007. Scott with his friends and me with mine, staying in the same hotel we got chatting and the rest is history,” Elane, 27, says.
The couple lived at opposite ends of the country and dated long distance for a while before Scott, 30, made the move to Liverpool to be with Elane.
He popped the question not long after the pair moved into their first house together and they then began planning their classic vintage wedding.
The couple wed in Elane’s dream location – The Crypt at Liverpool Cathedral – before the celebrations continued at The Venue at the Royal Liver Building on July 21, 2016 with about 60 friends and family.
“There was a lot of Scott’s friends and family that weren’t from Liverpool and had never been to Liverpool before so I tried to show them as much of the city as possible on the day. We hired a big old fashioned red bus and while we snuck off to get pictures taken, our guests drove around on a mini tour with champagne on the bus,” Elane says.
“The day had things we love, parts of us everywhere possible. The drink we drank in Zante where we met was the same as our drinks on arrival. The tables were named after the motorways/A roads between Liverpool and Liss (where Scott is from). We had bingo because we always said we would and who doesn’t love a good game of bingo?!”

The couple provided pots and vases for the big day, which were then styled by the venue.
“It was the most perfect day for us and our guests filled with love, tears, smiles, shots, bingo, dancing, good food, poems, sunshine, family and friends”, recalls Elane.
