Heather and Dan have known one another since they were “awkward, spotty 15-year-olds”, to quote this bride.
The pair, aged 27 and 29 respectively, married at their relaxed golf club wedding on August 4, 2017 – emphasis on the “relaxed”. “Our relationship basically circulates around being comfy and making stupid jokes, so planning our wedding was pretty much a zero-stress affair,” laughs Heather. Their main priority was for the event to be genuine.
“I wanted it to be local and I wanted it to be fun, not just for us but for everyone,” explains Heather. “I didn’t really want a day where I would be worried about things going wrong or to have tradition just for the sake of having tradition.”
So the couple who “eventually got together after having way too much to drink and dancing to naughties indie music” wed at Hillside Golf Club with 80 loved ones by their side.
“Our wedding was absolutely gorgeous and it was because of the people around us.”

Country style blooms were by a family friend, Val Donaldson. “We was absolutely amazing; we were blessed to receive a floristry lesson the day before and help with the table centres,” Heather explains.
The groom’s three piece navy check suit was purchased from Debenhams.
“I absolutely loved working with David, our photos were so so much better than I had ever thought they would be,” beams the bride.
Heather’s wedding dress was in fact two separate pieces. The lace appliqué top was from Asos and the pencil skirt from Roland Mouret.
“We wanted to give something good for the environment and that people could have for a long time,” Heather says of their plant gifts.
“Dan and I are pretty camera shy so it was important we had someone who was easy to work with,” she explains.
