Hannah Lagergren and Chris Nesbitt-Smith wanted to throw an “off-the-wall” wedding to entertain their 120 guests.
Thirty-six-year-old Chris – being a sky-diving junkie – and 34-year-old Hannah – afraid of heights, meant they were an odd match to begin with. But a difference of opinion on how to get their kicks couldn’t stop them from falling in love. “My first impression of Chris was that he was a bit bonkers,” laughs Hannah. “But we soon found we had a few common interests including good food, music, theatre, fancy dress, beards, travel and the colour pink!”
That love of theatre and food dominated their hunt for the perfect venue, eventually leading them to Roost in Hackney. “It’s a Victorian pub converted into a photo and film studio over four floors with a garden,” explains Hannah.
Chris loves surprises, proposing to Hannah while in Taiwan riding a Segway, and guests were were privy to much of the same on the day: “We had jugglers, mime artists, comedy acts, magicians and acrobats as surprise acts during the afternoon.”

Hannah’s shoes by cult favourite Sophia Webster tied in perfectly with the mostly pink, slightly bonkers, and very fun scheme that typified the day.
The decor was really important to the couple; creating a theatrical and welcoming atmosphere for their guests.
“Everyone still talks about our wedding day, hardly a day passes when we don’t look back at the photos and laugh,” remarks Hannah.
