When Marcus proposed to Bryony while sitting with their Hungarian Viszla puppy and sharing a bottle of wine in their Lechlade cottage backyard, their ceremony venue choice seemed obvious.
“We live in the churchyard, can see the spire from our bedroom window and can hear the church bells on a Sunday morning,” Bryony says of local St Lawrence Church. “I got ready at home with my bridesmaids and my Dad walked me down the church path to the ceremony.”
The pair, aged 30 and 31 respectively, let family, connection and history influence the direction of their springtime DIY wedding.
Decorations, wedding favours and cakes were handcrafted by family and friends, something Bryony says made the day uniquely theirs.
“If that wasn’t enough, my Dad surprised me with a bagpiper to accompany us to the church as a homage to our Scottish heritage,” smiles the bride.
110 guests joined the pair for the April 28, 2018 festivities, which continued into the night at a beautiful marquee reception at Stanford Hall – Marcus’ family home.
