“I feel old just saying this… But Paul and I met through the Myspace of his band in 2008,” says bride Emilie-Rose.
While Paul resided in the UK, Emilie-Rose lived with her family in France. The pair spoke every night for a year before Paul, 36, closed the gap with a trip to see her.
“The distance wasn’t easy. We were always missing each other, but that made every moment spent together even more special,” explains Emilie-Rose, now 31. “In 2014 I left my job, my family, my friends and my life in Paris to come live with Paul in York. And now every day I just feel so happy to wake up by his side.”
With 80 guests in attendance on May 11, 2018 Emilie-Rose and Paul tied the knot, celebrating the coming together of French and English culture at Bolton Castle in Wensleydale, Yorkshire.
With half the medieval castle intact and the rest in ruins, Bolton Castle proved to be the perfect setting for the enchanted woodland wedding.
“We’re both very much into history and everything magical and ethereal. With Bolton Castle, it was love at first sight.”
The pair decorated the venue themselves, keeping it minimalistic with ivy garlands and moss to allow the medieval venue to shine.

Emilie-Rose believes her attire perfectly reflected her personality. “Nice and well behaved on the outside but a touch of craziness when you look deeper,” she says of her blue glitter Irregular Choice bridal shoes hidden beneath her lace gown purchased from The Harrogate Wedding Lounge.
Emilie-Rose and Paul marked the close of their ceremony with a spectacular Birds of Prey display.
Entertainment included guided tours of the castle, archery and medieval toys for the little ones.
Guests were treated to a six-course banquet showcasing the best of French and English cuisine in the castle’s Great Hall.
