Childhood sweethearts Justine Trethowan and Joe Davies got crafty with their family and friends to create their dream rustic wedding.
The Bedford couple, who first met when they were 14, wed close to home on August 27, 2015 not long after Joe, 27, popped the question in The Ritz after a Thames river cruise.
“As we have family coming from Spain, New Zealand and Cornwall and elderly relatives it was important to us that the ceremony, reception and hotel was in the one local location,” Justine, 27, says of their choice to have their big day at The Barns Hotel.
“We wanted to keep the wedding simple and low key, with the most important thing being that our friends, family and us had a great time.”
One hundred guests took part in the celebrations, with the couple doing a bit of DIY to make the day their own.
“Together with my crafty family we made the wedding stationery, shortbread favours, hessian table runners and signage for around the venue,” Justine says.
“I married my childhood sweetheart in our hometown surrounded by all of our friends and family who love us and whom we love dearly – what could be better?”

The bride travelled in style with a vintage car for the big day.
Justine went for a woodland theme for her bouquets.
“We have grown with each other through school, various jobs, buying our first flat and then moving into our first house,” Justine says.
“The day was full of laughs and some tears all captured by our very own talented photographer and now my brother in-law Dan,” Justine says.
Justine kept her look classic with a veil and headpiece to co-ordinate with her lovely lace gown.
