Christmas has always played a starring role in Rebecca Coombs and David Gathercole’s relationship.
“We met at Christmas at university, he proposed Christmas day and we married a week before Christmas, it all came full circle,” Rebecca, 28, says of their 10-year relationship.
The Epsom couple hope their vintage winter wedding will inspire more Christmas nuptials among couples planning their perfect day.
Rebecca and David, 30, wed on December 16, 2016 at Cain Manor, Farnham, in front of 105 guests. The reception with 150 friends and family at the same venue was decked out with winter and Christmas-themed touches in shades of soft blues, pinks and silver.
Rebecca describes the day as being filled with non-stop celebrating and socialising and the newlyweds relished the chance to have a few short moments just the two of them.
“The best thing we did was escape to a private room just after the confetti was thrown, just the two of us to realize that we were husband and wife. It was a really special moment that I won’t forget,” Rebecca says.

Rebecca’s bridesmaids wore elegant grey dresses from Jenny Packham.
The bride’s modern wedding dress featured a removable train, perfect for a night on the dancefloor! She paired them with shoes from Rainbow Club.
Rebecca says if she could have her time over again, she would allow more time for herself in the morning. “I had four bridesmaids, a flower girl, the mother of the groom, my mum and my auntie to get prepped for hair and make-up. I wish I had allowed time to sit back and enjoy the moment with my friends and family,” she says.
David made for a dapper groom in a striking three-piece suit with a grey and blue waistcoat, an outfit he designed himself.
The couple’s stunning cake was created by family member Julia Baker who gained internet fame for her “double-take cakes” after an image of one of her creations went viral, even attracting the attention of Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr.
The couple included a photo booth in their reception celebrations, providing a book for guests to add their pics and messages.
