Hitting on your mate’s younger sister can sometimes be a friendship hurdle. But it’s one groom Lee willingly jumped to be with bride Katherine.
“Lee and I actually go way back,” says Kat. “He was my brother’s really good friend from primary school. I fancied him for years from afar, until one night – under extreme intoxication – I told him how I felt.” Luckily, the feeling was mutual. “I still love hearing about how he used to get told off by my brother for asking about me.”
The pair were married at their modern classic wedding on August 9, 2014. Both from Liverpool, they kept things close to home marrying at Our Lady’s Church, followed by a reception at The Vincent. Kat says her morning getting ready was a dream, but it all hit her when she arrived at the church. “I was shaking, crying and was totally overwhelmed, until I saw him, my husband, crying, and smiling,” she says.
“The rest of the day was fabulous, we had a band that got the party started as soon as cocktail hour began, and everyone was so happy,” smiles Kat. She said The Vincent lived up to its name for amazing food. “On our wedding day no one had a bad word to say about the food, or the service – it was impeccable.”

“I tried on so many dresses and every bride shop I visited said every dress suited me, but I wanted honesty. At Bridesworld, it was what I got,” Kat says of the supplier where she found her Victoria Jane gown.
Kat says brides-to-be need to be vigilant with wedding dress shopping. “Try on as many dresses as you want and make sure you take people that will be brutally honest with you.”
“A year on and I know I am married to the most amazing man, he is everything I could wish for,” praises Kat of Lee.
The couple left for their “dream” honeymoon in Thailand two days after the wedding.
