Carly and Ciaran have a shared love of history, so what better place to celebrate their romantic Celtic wedding than in one of the oldest Catholic churches in England?
The couple felt like they had discovered a hidden treasure when they found St Etheldredas Crypt while walking through London.
With a love of old buildings and churches, Carly, 32, and Ciaran, 34, decided to walk straight in, and they immediately fell in love.“We both have quite a distinct style, we both love history and nature so we knew from the start that we wanted the wedding to be held in St Etheldredas church and the reception to be held in the medieval crypt below,” Carly says.
The couple transformed the venue into a woodland wonderland for their celebration in front of 60 friends and family on September 23, 2017. “We wanted it to look like an enchanted forest with trees growing out of books, books stacked on books, woodland birds and owls, lots of poetry and masses of greenery and flower surrounded by candles,” Carly says.“We did not want everything to match so each centrepiece and table was different but the theme of enchantment flowed throughout.”
Carly says the priority of the wedding was quite simple: “We just wanted a small gathering of those we loved most to come and celebrate our day,” she says. “We wanted people to eat, drink and laugh and enjoy.”
