Photographer Victoria Somerset-How was an ideal match for couple Bea Rodger and Robbie Ormrod.
Her artistic style of “natural, relaxed and informal” was exactly what they London pair were chasing for their shabby botanical wedding on September 3, 2016. “Bea and Robbie are such a fun couple — very relaxed and so fun to be around,” says Victoria. “My style worked with them really well.”
Die hard North Londoners, the couple’s incorporated their love of all things north of the river; marrying with a ceremony at Jackson’s Lane in Highgate Hill, followed by “food and dancing” at their local pub – the Earl Haig Hall.
Although the 10 months prior were a whirlwind of saving and DIY-ing, the couple wanted a wedding day “With big sharing plates of incredible food from the lovely chef Bobby at the Earl Haig for dinner and long rows of tables we tried to make everyone feel as at home as possible,” smiles Bea.
“It was all a beautiful mess, and over too quickly, but as cliché as it sounds, I wish I could do it all over again.”

A passionate gardener Bea opted for a Botanical theme with a shabby chic nod to this years greenery trend.
Bea sourced ivy necklaces for the bridal party to tie their mismatched peach dresses into the botanical style of the day.

“When I came across this dress I thought it was too cheap to be nice, so we planned on taking it to bits to learn from the pattern, but when it turned up it was spectacular,” explains Bea.

“We’re not religious, so one of our best pals acted as our celebrant, and friends read poems, and played me down the aisle,” explains the bride.

“I was completely overwhelmed by everyone’s kindness and heart,” says the bride.
“We opted for no flowers on the tables, just masses of green in the way of ferns, all lit under hundreds of fairy lights.”
The father of the bride took to the stage with his band and kept everyone dancing through the night.
The couple wanted their wedding to be one big party and indeed they were having so much fun they forgot to cut their lovely cake made by Robbie’s mum. Mission accomplished!
