Black-tie chic with a whimsical touch is how Chelsea and Brian describe their elegant high tea wedding.

Although they were living in Washington D.C., the couple loves to travel and wanted the intimate feel of a destination wedding.

“We chose Scotland since it was the first place we travelled together abroad, and it had the perfect romantic feel we wanted,” Chelsea explains.

Luxury venue Prestonfield House in Edinburgh hosted the couple and their 26 guests for the celebrations on August 11, 2016.

“We found fantastic vendors who we were able to work with from the US to help us achieve the perfect look. We ended up with exactly what we were hoping for; a small, black-tie wedding that looked chic and sophisticated with a bunch of fun whimsical touches,” Chelsea says.

“It felt like Alice in Wonderland grew up and wanted to throw a black-tie tea party – the perfect mix of chic and whimsical.”

Chelsea’s sparkly Jimmy Choo heels struck the perfect balance between chic and whimsy.

The couple met at work in 2011. “Two years and one adorable cat later we got engaged,” Chelsea says.

Narcissus created the beautiful flower arrangements for the elegant high tea wedding.

Cro & Kow captured stunning photos of the couple. “We’ve felt like family friends at this wedding,” photographers Sylwia and Simon say. “We had a couple of long chats on Skype plus we’ve met before the wedding in person to get to know each other, establish a great connection and to make sure we capture all the details (those ceramic bunnies!) and moments but also how we would plan a great portrait shoot on the day in one of the windiest spots in Edinburgh!”

With a relaxed two-year engagement, Chelsea advises future brides not to rush their wedding day. “Take some time to allow yourself to enjoy being engaged, take as much time as you need to make sure everything is perfect, and take enough time to do it all without feeling like your hair is on fire every two minutes,” she says.
