She wanted a Christmas wedding, but he just wanted a wedding at Christmas.
Jeannette Richardson and Tom Booth’s small relaxed wedding date was dictated by their dream venue, The Faversham in Leeds. “It was perfect; relaxed, intimate, but with plenty of room for dancing,” explains Jen. “We didn’t want to wait too long to get married so when they told us they had availability that Christmas, we booked it.”
So Jen, 30, began planning her Christmas wedding for December 17, 2016, even hunting for a reindeer supplier. But groom Tom, 34, quickly put on the brakes. “In the end I managed to sneak a few things in so that it wasn’t so much a Christmas wedding but a wedding at Christmas – no snow machine in sight,” laughs Jen.
Jen says it was a perfect winter’s day, with plenty of sun. “The ceremony was in the conservatory of the venue and the sun streamed in through the windows,” she explains. “I arrived in a white VW camper van.”
The after-ceremony photoshoot for the couple was a meaningful time. “After the ceremony we drank mulled wine before heading to Leeds University library for photos,” says the bride. “We both went to Leeds University so it was amazing to get pictures in the old building.”
