This beautiful country garden wedding between pharmacy assistant Sarah Porter and franchisee Nick Speakman is proof you can have a dream wedding and not go broke getting there.
The Taree couple shared a vision for their wedding day; “We both have particular taste,” says Sarah, 20, and at first questioned whether they could have their (wedding) cake and eat it too.
But in the end they were able to pull it together, elegantly, and to budget, and they could not be happier with the result.
In the company of 120 guests, the venue was Sarah’s aunt and uncle’s picturesque property, decked out with a marquee and rows of hay bales for the garden ceremony.
A simple – but effective – pale pink sheath formed a canopy over the grassy aisle suspended by large white helium balloons, and the vows were officiated by local pastor Kevin Matters under a rustic hessian arch.
Sarah and Nick, 30, accepted the kindness of friends and family in many areas of the wedding – from the finger-food catering and videography to the bridesmaids’ dresses and makeup.
They designed and made their own wedding invitations, used their own cars and created their own lolly buffet.
“Not only was our wedding easy on the budget,” says Sarah, “but it was made all the more perfect by the people that helped and came to share it with us. We wouldn’t change a thing.”
