    116 Pall Mall makes for a memorable, unforgettable wedding venue, captivating your guests with its opulent decor, magnificent original features, period charm and unique heritage. Originally designed by John Nash, the 19th-century architect behind the Brighton Pavilion and Marble Arch, 116 Pall Mall (home of the Institute of Directors) was opened in 1828 for the United Service Club. As the property is owned by the Crown Estate, the rich history of the venue can be sensed in every room through its astounding collection of fine artwork. From the moment your guests enter, they’ll be welcomed by stunning Georgian architecture.

    The Grand Staircase and Balcony, a reflection of the building’s grandeur, is licensed for civil ceremonies. This alternative ceremony space has seen many couples marry on its sweeping steps. With spectacular boundless lines, gilded banisters, statues and paintings, its a spectacular space to say ‘I do’. The 15ft handmade Regency chandelier sparkles above, a gift from George IV to commemorate the Battle of Waterloo.

    The Nash is the grandest function room in the building, a popular choice for larger weddings. The bright airy room, complete with floor to ceiling windows, a 20ft ceiling, stunning feature chandelier and period artwork, really has the wow factor. Luxurious in style and steeped in grandeur, it comfortably welcomes up to 250 dining. Even better, the room is fully licensed until 3am!

    The Waterloo is a stunning double aspect room overlooking Pall Mall and Waterloo Place. Filled with natural daylight and traditional Georgian charm, the room is often used for a drinks reception in conjunction with the adjoining Nash. If used as a standalone event space, it can host up to 80 dining.

    The Carlton, 116 Pall Mall’s historic smoking room, is an elegant space that welcomes up to 150 seated. The room is adorned with many rich decorative features including dramatic Ionic columns in the centre of the room. The south facing doors open onto the Terrace & Waterloo East Garden. This hidden gem provides the ideal area for alfresco entertaining. Enveloped by trees and lush greenery, it provides the perfect backdrops for your treasured wedding photographs. With summer cocktails, vintage garden games and delicious BBQ food, your guests can enjoy the sun in tranquil green surroundings – a rarity in central London. To really make the event your own, choose from package upgrades including a gin and tonic station, evening band, an ice-cream bike and much more!

    In recent years Downton Abbey has been filmed on-site, as have scenes in The Dark Knight, Gandhi and Foyle’s War. 116 Pall Mall has also welcomed luminaries such as Paul McCartney, James Bond author Ian Fleming and Duke of Wellington, to name but a few, adding a touch of extra sparkle to this already prestigious venue.

Our wedding was held at 116 Pall Mall and from planning the wedding to the actual day it was a real joy. Lee Ainsworth in particular was unbelievably helpful, attentive and extremely professional. We had considered having a wedding planner, but in the event there was absolutely no need for this as everything ran completely smoothly. The food and running of the wedding was so perfect – we can’t think of one thing that went wrong. In fact the meetings we had with Lee and Chef leading up to the big day covered everything possible, so our minds were put completely at ease. Even the lighting was completely as we’d envisaged it as One of the team came in on a few weekends before the event and showed us how it would all look – his patience and care was excellent. Altogether a stunning venue, a wonderful team and an amazing day. We would definitely recommend the IOD for a wedding at any time."

I (groom) am from a proud British family and my bride is American from an equally stunning area, we made plans for a London wedding. No.4 Hamilton Place ticked all the right boxes and met our needs in every way. It’s a beautiful building at a comparably reasonable price. It was perfect. The team were never over bearing and at the same time right there when we needed them. We had a transport issue for our wedding party but Louise helped solve it straight away.

The Restaurant is beautiful - high ceilings and natural light. It was refurbished in 2014. It was not busy at all the day I visited for lunch. The staff were wonderfully attentive without being over-bearing in any way. The food was absolutely delicious and presented in a very attractive way. I would definitely take guests again for lunch at this restaurant.

The IoD is in a fantastic building in the heart of the city. The downstairs restaurant produces some v nice food. The training rooms upstairs are v good, with their own barista and a great supply of fresh fruit and biscuits. There are also downstairs members meeting areas. Very nice place.

Took an old friend to lunch in the main Restaurant, in its recently new location. The Restaurant is now situated in a very big corner room, with great views across Pall Mall and busy London, through huge windows. Big pictures of historic sea battles and naval officers, from 200 years ago, all added to the overall setting.The service was, as usual, excellent and efficient. I much enjoyed my food and wine, with a very good choice.I will certainly be going again soon.

Having just about resurfaced from the whole wedding whirl, we wanted to say how thrilled and impressed we were with the way our wedding reception was handled by your team. The building looked immaculate and having such a wonderful space completely at our disposal worked perfectly. We have had many compliments about the magnificent setting and the staff were (without exception) helpful, courteous and efficient and we all felt extremely well looked after. The food was absolutely delicious and served beautifully – again our guests have raved about the meal. The whole day just flowed wonderfully and a very happy occasion was only enhanced by taking place at 116 Pall Mall. Thanks from us all and finally, being able to put up the personalised flag really was the icing on the (wedding) cake!

We hired the venue for a wedding celebration and the staff couldn't have done more to make the day such a huge success. They were without exception so smiley and happy while working so hard to keep our 130+ guests served with food and drink through a long day. They even managed to attend tirelessly to the smaller details like keeping water jugs full. The food, despite catering for such large numbers, was just a delicious and plentiful as it was when I recently lunched there with my son. I lost count of the many guests who commented that this was the best wedding they had been to - mainly due to the staff at the Humble Grape. Well done to all of you.

The building was immaculate, and our thanks go the housekeeping staff for preparing the public areas so well. The banqueting staff were excellent throughout. Courteous, professional, efficient and in sufficient numbers to ensure every aspect of our day-long activities were amply catered for.
