Standing proud on Westminster’s Whitehall and across the street from the renowned Horse Guards Parade, Banqueting House encapsulates the rich history and beauty that so abundantly surrounds it. The looming stone facade and towering pillars hint to the treasures that can be expected inside. 

Entering the foyer on ground floor level, a grand twisting staircase flanks the left side of the building and the vaulted Undercroft tunnels off under the right. The Undercroft is a versatile blank canvas that features stone-paved floors, symmetrical ceiling arches, and attractive low lighters that illuminate the smooth white walls.

This extraordinary space is licensed for wedding ceremonies for up to 150 guests, and later in the evening, the vaulted room can be converted into a trendy bar and dancefloor area. Tuck chic lounge chairs between the arches and wash the walls with up-lighters in any colour you desire. With effective production, decoration and lighting, the Undercroft can become your own personalised underground nightclub.

While basements are always a quirky dancing option, the main event space on the first floor can comfortably host a dinner and dance floor for 250 guests. This awe-inspiring room has an exceptionally high ceiling, striking columns and inviting warm grey walls that would complement nearly any wedding theme. On your wedding night, sip champagne beneath the golden baroque details that encircle nine of Peter Paul Ruben’s oil paintings, all of which were mounted in Banqueting House’s ceiling in 1636 and have been unmoved since.

To the delight of your photographers and videographers, an elevated gallery fringes the ballroom, allowing for panoramic shots of the room and its spectacular size. On special occasions, a choir has also been granted access to the gallery to sing down on the guests during the ceremony.

Despite its rich history and well-preserved features, Banqueting House in Whitehall is a remarkably simple and accommodating London venue to host a wedding in.
