The closest attraction that you will find is just a stroll away. Lying behind the trees, at the end of our beautiful grounds you will find the Furness Abbey Ruins. The impressive, romantic ruins of an Abbey founded by Stephen, later King of England provide a wonderful day out.

Lakes Coniston & Windermere are just a 40 minute drive and the beautiful villages of Hawkeshead & Ambleside are just a few miles more.

Barrow itself offers a superb dockside museum with coastal walks that can take you to the Walney Island Nature reserve and a local seal community can be viewed on a regular basis. The local Lake District and Cumbria attractions make for the ideal holiday or weekend break.

I got married on the 14th august here and the staff were superb! The food was lovely, everything went smoothly and the wedding party have all complemented what a beautiful place abbey house is. A special Thankyou to Jo, she was on hand the day before and throughout our wedding day-she was so approachable and one step ahead with everything- an absolute star! Thank you

We would like to thank John, Laura, Jo, Harriet and Lewis for making our day a true fairytale wedding. The professionalism of these guys is untrue, the service, food , accommodation,was truly unbelievable. Lewis many thanks for looking after us, everyone was overwhelmed by your professionalism on our day and the way you only had to move your eyes to instruct the staff what to do.
