Dunedin Country House

Dunedin Country House was built between 1841 -1846, and encompasses both the late Georgian and early Victorian build designs. Our function rooms have beautiful fireplaces to laze away the winter afternoons, teamed with original features and amazing views over the lawned Victorian garden and across the fields to the River Humber.

The property was originally built by a surgeon, Dr Lands, who apparently on travelling the world, fell in love with the Scottish settlement of Dunedin in New Zealand. On his return and settlement in Patrington, he built and named Dunedin Country House, it is said that many of the old trees within the grounds were brought from his travels.

Dunedin has had many varied owners and occupiers, most recently the local village doctor resided from 1924-1981. Dr Cripps lived at Dunedin with his family and also ran the local doctors surgery from the stable block. Many people from the village still refer to the House as the 'Doctors'. The poor parishioners visited the Doctor in the stable block, whilst 'wealthier' parishioners remember seeing the Doctor in the Study in the Main House which is now the Guest Lounge, a large bookcase still remains in the Study and would undoubtably been used by Dr Cripps.

Our Georgian/Victorian House is full of charm and character and is the perfect venue for your wedding. Set in mature terraced lawned gardens, full of photographic opportunities to capture those special moments, we pride ourselves on being dedicated to making sure your day runs perfectly.
