Every room in this royal household echoes with quiet whispers of a long and celebrated history. Nestled in the leafy grounds of Kensington Palace Gardens, the 16th century building was upgraded to a palace in 1689 upon the royal family taking residence. Since then it has played witness to countless historical events, and given its precious heritage, Kensington Palace now only hosts 20 events per year. Celebrating your wedding at this infamous location is therefore considered the epitome of exclusivity.

Five rooms at the top of the King’s Grand Staircase create the King’s State Apartments. Set in a circle, each room leads onto the next. When King George II and Queen Caroline first took residence at Kensington Palace, these rooms were decorated for lavish entertaining that would often last late into the night.

As the Palace is a functioning museum, wedding ceremonies start in the early evening in either the King’s Drawing Room or the King’s Gallery, once the residence is closed to the public. Both rooms are richly decorated in red damask fabrics, dark wooden panels and exquisitely detailed ceilings. One can’t help but reminisce over Britain’s regal story when surrounded by artefacts of its past, and so the Palace provides a deeply emotional atmosphere in which to speak your marriage vows.

During your champagne reception, guests can gaze over the pristine lawns of Kensington Gardens and marvel at the dome ceiling illusion in the Cupola Room where Queen Victoria was privately christened in 1819. In the first of the five rooms, the Presence Chamber, the original throne canopy stands proudly, and intricate tapestries adorn the width of the walls. Festive dinners ranging from 36 to 110 guests can be hosted in four of the five state rooms after which guests are ushered down through the gardens to the Pavilion for entertainment and dancing.

Enjoy a private stroll through Cradle Walk to reach the white walled Pavilion next to the palace. Couples often opt to illuminate the green, leafy tunnels with colourful uplighters or fairy lights to create an enchanting evening experience for guests. After successfully shifting the mood from dinner to dancing, serve cocktails and dance in the Pavilion while guests soak up the warmth of the evening on the adjoining terrace. VISIT WEBSITE

Kensington Palace is beautifully maintained. All in all, besides the way everything is presented, the rooms are of course remarkable. After all, it’s a Royal Palace which never ceased to be one.

From the moment we arrived we were pampered , cared for and made to feel very special! The venue, the ambiance were out of this world. It is quite expensive , but I considered it excellent value for money. It was a relaxed and happy day spent in spectacular surroundings with wonderfully attentive staff.
