I'm Morecambe-based, a semi-documentary style wedding photographer providing beautiful, stylish, fun, quirky, natural and memorable images for weddings.
Hi! I’m Johnny, but most people call me Johnny Bean! Not a bad name as names go! That’s me above, dressed as Step toe and a Rolleiflex camera (photography obsessed from an early age!)
It’s really important for me when I’m shooting a couple’s wedding, that I get to know them a little bit, I want my photos to reflect their personality. So when we meet I like to ask lots of stuff about how, where and when you both met, what makes you laugh, are you outgoing or a more private, what books/films/music you like, all manner of stuff really. I like to tailor my photography to my clients, and sometimes it allows me to offer up little surprises like this one for Verity & Martyn, whom I discovered shared a love of comic books…
Photography grabbed me at an early age. I studied Photography A Level at South Nott’s College then went on to complete a BA (Hons) Degree in Film, Video &Photographic Arts at the Polytechnic of Central London (now the rather posher sounding University of Westminster!). I then took a diversion into book selling for about 15 years, including stints as Bookshop Manager at the ICA (Institute of Contemporary Arts) in London and foto gallery in Cardiff. More recently I was Administrator at Lancaster Literature Festival for 9 years. Along the way I’ve taught basic photography and b&w darkroom skills to young people in Edgware, at (the now closed) Folly Gallery in Lancaster.
