Raphael Mason Photography

Raphael Mason has been an avid photographer for over 20 years, working for two of the top weekly newspapers in N. Ireland, namely the Mourne Observer (until 2002), and for the past twelve years, the Down Recorder.

During this time he has built up a reputation for top quality photography. In 2009 he was named Sports Photographer of the Year in the Down Council Press Awards. The previous year he was among the award winners in the sports category of the Northern Ireland Photographers' Association competition.

In January 2010 one of his sports images was featured in the Portfolio section of top UK photography magazine Professional Photographer, and in April 2012 a selection of his images were exhibited in Down Arts Centre as part of a commissioned project depicting life in the Ballymote area of Downpatrick. These images were also exhibited in the Ballymote Health & Wellbeing Centre during July 2012. In October 2014 the Down Arts Centre will once again host an exhibition of Raphael's work.

Raphael also has a love of the countryside and enjoys taking beautiful landscape scenes of his local area in Co. Down. In time he intends spreading his wings to capture stunning images of the countryside across Ireland, building up a unique library of scenery from our beautiful country.
