karenhiggins is a small ‘cottage industry’ style business that I carry out part-time in the evenings and weekends. I have a full time job during the week but my creative streak takes over once I get home and I always have some project or other on the go!

My favourite subject at school was Art and as a teenager I could often be found drawing until the small hours of the morning. Whilst training as a Draughtsperson, I studied for a B-Tec Certificate in Design and following a short time working in the design field I moved on to pursue a career in accounts and business administration.

Nevertheless, design has always remained a firm hobby of mine and this eventually progressed into carrying out projects for friends & family such as creating invitations for various celebrations, decorating venues for birthday parties & wedding receptions and making personalised gifts / mementoes.

I decided to purchase a small vinyl cutting machine, heat press and ribbon printer so that I could print garments, sashes & banners and over the last few years the hobby started to expand
