Sara Gadd Millinery

Sara Gadd Millinery specialises in ladies occasion headwear design and creation. The collections are lovingly handmade by Sara at her studio in Cumbria. Sara’s love of millinery ignited at The University of Cumbria, where she studied BA (Hons) Design Crafts. Graduating in 2002, Sara received funding from the University towards shared studio space and in the same year, Sara Gadd Millinery was born. Since then, Sara has furthered her craft attending millinery summer schools and workshops throughout the UK and has created many a hat for stylish heads across the globe.

Among Sara’s achievements are being chosen as a semi finalist of The Hat Magazines Hat Designer of the Year, exhibiting as part of Hatwalk for three years, Madeira Thread Sponsorship, Sara’s hats have also been chosen as ‘Best Hat’ on a number of occasions at Carlisle Races Ladies Day and in addition to working as a milliner, Sara also supplies several ladies wear boutiques as well as offering talks, workshops and demonstrations.

The collection draws upon Sara’s background in printed textiles and machine embroidery and has a strong sense of colour and attention to detail that is translated into every creation. Whether dying materials or hand crafting beautiful silk flowers, Sara’s passion and creativity shine though.
