Vintage glamour shines through in modern wedding at Terrara Estate

At an early 1900s estate in Terrara, NSW, Natasha McKay and Christian Van Langevelde wed in vintage glamour style.

The modern wedding on February 11, 2011, was a long-time coming for the hairdresser and construction manager.

Natasha (who goes by Tarsh), 33, and Christian, 32, were dating for nine years before taking a 14-month separation in 2009. As fate would have it however, a break turned out to be just what they needed and they were engaged shortly thereafter. “While we had both thought we were too opposite for it to ever work, we realised just the opposite,” smiles Natasha.

Their special day attended by 70 guests was filled with gorgeous detail including antique bird cages, a magnolia tree table and chandeliers.

Natasha walked down the aisle to Kate-Miller Heidke’s “Last Day on Earth” – a tribute to the couple’s special and hard times experienced together. “The ceremony was the best part of the day,” recalls Natasha. “I had tears in my eyes as soon as I took my first steps because I saw the tears in Christian’s eyes. The whole place was in tears including the celebrant.” Happy tears of course.

Natasha’s Angela Marcuccio Bridal Couture gown featured a heavy French lace bodice, delicate belt handmade of silk flowers and layered tulle with scattered lace.

Natasha designed her bridesmaid’s dresses. The full-length nude colour with gathered bodices and a lace motif perfectly set the vintage glamour theme.

The bride and groom opted for extravagance with their wedding cake – a five-tier masterpiece made of white chocolate and a damask icing pattern with fresh flowers to top it off!

Natasha’s wedding tip is to “go with your gut feeling and stick with you original wants and thoughts.”
