Sydney couple Sandy Posadas, 29 and Chris Santucci, 30, wed six years to the day they met at the Rosehill Ladies’ Day after-party in November 2006. They held a traditional church wedding – timeless and elegantly styled – which all began with Chris asking his future father-in-law for Sandy’s hand in marriage four months before proposing.
On the night of their engagement, Christmastime 2010, dinner was booked at their favourite Sardinian restaurant – Pilu at Freshwater on Sydney’s northern beaches. Sandy tells, “Chris was waiting patiently for me while I was getting ready. I had my back to him and was preoccupied packing my purse. I then noticed he walked over and went down on one knee… and handed me a little white box. My eyes welled up with tears as I realised what was about to happen.”
After saying ‘yes’, Sandy says, “I was so caught up with emotion that I had put the box down.” When Chris opened it up, her left hand was still “trembling with joy” and the ring “sparkled and dazzled with gorgeous splendour,” gushes Sandy. Which is just as well because Chris designed it himself – pencil sketches and all – with the assistance of Gregory Jewellers.
Sandy chose Sydney couturier Louise Alvarez to design her sheath-silhouette gown. It featured a V-neckline with sheer cap sleeves, pale ivory French beaded lace with a platinum underlay and small train. Sandy’s long circular veil was by the same designer.
Chris wore a grey three-piece suit from Harrolds Sydney and his groomsmen were dressed in black formal suits by Spurling Formalwear Chatswood.
The couple exchanged vows at Chris’s family church, Our Lady of Victories in Horsley Park. Sandy says, “There was a sentimental value of having our wedding ceremony there. It is also one of the most iconic and beautiful churches in the area,” adding that they will one day tell their children how they “got married at that pretty church on the hill.”
Sweet Bride Flowers did the vibrant and feminine flower arrangements using a mixture of cream David Austin roses, pink and white lisianthuses, sweet avalanche roses, Cezanne roses and dusty miller.
After the ceremony, the couple left for their wedding photos in a black and silver Jaguar Mark V 1950 convertible from Broadway Limousines.
One of the locations for the couple’s wedding photos was Chris’s parents’ home in Mount Vernon in Sydney’s west. “It has the old-world charm of the Victorian era with the beautiful manicured gardens outside, which are designed and maintained by Chris’s dad,” explains Sandy. “This location…will always bring back so many memories of our special day.”
Sandy’s bridesmaids wore full length lilac chiffon gowns by Mr K and her flower girl was dressed by Stellina Cute Couture.
Mosman’s Chowder Bay was the second location for the pair’s wedding photos before heading to Sergeants Mess for a sit down reception of 250 people.
Sandy enlisted Little Creations to create a three-tier ivory wedding cake that had a different flavour for each tier; raspberry ganache, double chocolate ganache and caramel ganache. “The cake was adorned with edible silver ribbon at the base of each tier, handmade flowers, intricate stenciling and edible silver balls,” describes the bride.
