We met through my cousin when we were 16 and were close friends till we were 27, when we became a couple
The Proposal:
Laying in bed one night he asked me if i would do him the honor of becoming his wife, and of course i said of course! we went and picked out an engagement ring on valintines day
Wedding Dress:
I designed it myself and had it made by a local dress maker, it was a silk taffeta mermaid dress with a sweetheart neckline and a royal purple sash which tied into a oversized bow at the back with a long purple train. i removed the bow and train after the ceremony and wore my mums veil for the reception
Accessories:
I had a single white rose in my hair
Groom's Attire:
Grey pants and vest with a white shirt and purple tie
Bridesmaids:
One shoulder silk jumpsuits from tree of life
Wedding Theme:
Vintage diy garden party! we had purple, lilac, deep pink, pale pink, with splashes of tourqoise
Flowers:
Lavender, hydrayngers, roses, lisiantus and dusty miller foilage in pinks, purple and white
Ceremony Reception Decor
I sewed up about 40 meters of bunting, I hand painted several meters of fabric and made long table runners out of it, I borrowed teapots and tea cups for the centerpieces, with flowers in the teapots and brightly coloured rock candy in the tea cups. I made heaps of little decorations around the place, such as a large collage of my husband and i's relationships thus far, an elaborate table plan, three button hearts strung up in the home made photo booth area which had op shop props and a polaroid camera, I made heaps of rocky road for the guests to pig out on, rum flavoured cookies for the mens favours (my hubby is a big rum fan) paper doilie confetti cones filled with dried lavender...the list goes on and on!
Transport:
We had a white stretch limo
Bomboniere:
Pretty fans for the girls and rum flavoured heart shaped cookies for the men
Cake:
We bought a caramel mud and choc mint mud both ised with white chocolet ganach from the cheescake shop and stacked them ourselves, with figurines of us and our kids in our wedding clothes as the cake topper
Entertainment:
We had a dj for the beggining of the night and a band after dinner (they were a huge hit!)
Honeymoon:
We spent the first three days in a b n b in montiville, then off to noosa in a waterfront townhouse for the second three days
Special Moments:
Because we had our wedding on a sunday a lot of people had to go to work the next day, so for the last half hour it was just us and the band! they played for us and we just danced together lost in our own little world...the perfect ending to the perfect day!
Tips:
although my diy stuff did come together beautifully and i had A lot of compliments of how great everything looked and how much everyone appreciated the effort i put into it, it was very stressful towards the end! BUT i would say it was worth it cause it was so beautiful and cost effective - our wedding only cost 15000, thats including the rings and the honeymoon!
