Congrats to Amy and Ben who’ve been crowned our August Wedding of the Month winners!
They are in the running for a second honeymoon to Italy’s ‘green heart’, Umbria.
Bristol couple Amy Spencer and Ben Cavanagh created an “accidental vintage” theme for their big day on April 13, 2017.
The pair, aged 27 and 28 respectively, simply chose styling items that took their fancy. “The style of the wedding was very unintentional,” explains groom Ben. “But on the day when all of our personal choices got put together there was definitely a vintage vibe to it … guests said it was like from another decade and had a 1960’s/70’s kind of style.”
Amy and Ben married at The Square Club in Bristol – a venue that fit them perfectly. “We went to look at a wedding venue out in the countryside but it just wasn’t for us,” says Ben, the couple loved the personality and intimacy of their venue, “It had such a good vibe…and the nicest exposed brick wall with a huge gold mirror!”
The couple made it a priority to ensure their 50 guests in the day and 70 in the evening had a good time at their relaxed vintage wedding. “Our friends and family continually say ‘your wedding was a party wedding’ which always makes us smile.”

The couple didn’t want their flowers to look too plain or perfect, so asked their florist for a variety of different coloured cool looking flowers.
Amy’s soft glam makeup was the work of local artist, Elle Hitchens, who she describes as “very talented”.
Amy and Ben spent the whole day at their chosen venue with their closest friends and family; “finding The Square Club meant a great deal because we would be married in the heart of the city we fell in love with.”
Bride Amy stunned in a dress and top combo with a shorter sleeve option for the evening and a very practical hidden feature. “My skirt had pockets which was brilliant!”
The couple asked their bridesmaids to pick their own dresses to reflect their different styles and tastes.
The day ended with a mixture of Amy and Ben’s favourite songs as well as a colourfully decorated chocolate and Guinness cake with cream cheese frosting.
